The city administration informed me the city does not have a flag.
Valentin Poposki, 31 March 2010

In April 2022, Ben Laurin, a 7th grader at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, had proposed a flag design to Mayor Ted Neitzke. A flag contest was held to receive additional designs. From a pool of 20 submissions, 4 finalists were selected, and Laurin’s design received 58% of the online community votes. His flag design was revised by graphic artist Kay (Huwatschek) Rego; adopted by the city on October 18, 2022; and flown for the first time on January 1, 2023.

The flag was described by the Mayor.

Our flag has four colors, and the adopted symbolism for each color is as follows:
- Blue Water: the precious and beautiful natural resources that define our city.
- Orange Sky: the optimism of the day ahead of us.
- Golden Sun: the opportunities we have as a community each day to learn, serve, and support each other.
- White Lighthouse: our safe and welcoming community. A city built to be a friendly harbor for all.
