Description of the flag

The flag of Orange, Connecticut, USA, uses white flag with town seal on it - a large oval orange ring bearing town name and inside a team of oxen plowing in black above the date 1822.

"The rolling hills which make up the 17.6 square miles of Orange, located just west of New Haven, were once owned by the Paugusset Indians. In 1639, the Rev. Peter Prudden purchased the land from the Indians for six coats, ten blankets, one kettle, twelve hatchets, twelve hoes, two dozen knives and a dozen small mirrors. Orange remained a simple farming community until the mid-1940's when postwar residential construction began."
Population (July 2003) is 13,572.

§ 138-1. Revised Seal adopted.

The Town of Orange shall adopt a revised Town Seal pursuant to Sections 7-101 and 7-148 of the General Statutes, as amended. Said Seal will be an oval shape. The center area will depict a silhouette of a team of oxen and plowman with date "1822" below it. The edge of the Seal will read "ORANGE CONNECTICUT TOWN SEAL."
