Flag

According to Royal Gorge Museum Director Lisa Studts, the Cañon City flag was adopted in 1972 for the city's centennial celebration. The flag was designed by Ina Thorson Finch, believed to be a high school student at the time of designing the flag. I was also sent an image of the flag, which is in the museum's collection for anyone who is interested.

As for the design, the flag depicts the Royal Gorge Bridge over the picturesque Royal Gorge canyon, of which it is below the sun and sky. This site brings many to the region from all over. Of course, the "C" stands for either Colorado or Cañon City, and with the sun and sky it stands as a homage to the flag of Colorado.
