The municipality of Köyceğiz (36,389 inhabitants in 2108; 17,580 ha) is located 50 km south-west of Muğla, on the northern shore of the lake of the same name, which is Turkey's vastest coastal lake.

The flag of Köyceğiz (photo, photo, photo) is white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The emblem represents the town of Köyceğiz mirroring in the lake and the Lion of Kaunos, a statue excavated in Kaunos in 1965 and illegally brought to Köyceğiz.
