The TSE (Tribunal Supremo Electoral) is the country's top authority regarding elections. It was established by Decreto Legislativo Nº 64 (Legislative Decree No. 64), of October 31, 1991. It traces its origins back to 1950 with the establishment of the CCE (Consejo Central de Elecciones (Elections Central Council) by the Ley Transitoria Electoral (Transitional Electoral Law) of January 12, 1950.
