It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Coat of arms

Shield Purpure, in base a bridge Or issuant with four arches and masoned Sable,above the bridge an impending pair of keys crossed per saltire tied Argent, (sinister bendy key Or and bendy key Argent). Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "ARCOS - PONTE DE LIMA".
Meaning:
The pair of keys is an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint. The bridge might be a canting element referring to the arches (Port: arcos).

Presentation of Arcos

Arcos Commune is one of the 39 communes of the Ponte de Lima municipality (q.v.); it had 640 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 14.4 km². The name of the commune had been S;ão Pedro d'Arcos until 6 April 2011.
