Coat of Arms

[COA of Rennesøy]image by Tomislav Šipek, 04 February 2016

Blazon: I blått to oppveksande adosserte sølv krumstavar.
In English: Azure two crosiers addorsed argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 20 February 1981 after a drawing by Svein Magnus Håvarstein. [c2j87]
The design symbolizes the oldest and the only preserved medieval monastery in Norway, Utstein. It was originally an Augustinian monastery, its abbot having a crozier as its symbol. Since Basel, Switzerland already had a crozier, Rennesøy chose design with two of them. See also http://www.rennesoy.kommune.no/Turisme/Om-Rennesoy/Kommunevapenet/
