Coat of Arms

[COA of Froland]
image by Tomislav Šipek, 12 January 2016

Blazon: I grønt et sølv ekorn. English: Vert a squirrel argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 17 January 1986 after a drawing by David Rike. [c2j87]
The design stands for the forests and wildlife in the municipality. [c2j87] note that squirrel is an ancient charge in Norwegian heraldry, appearing already in a seal from Oslo area in 1337 of one Jon Andresson and afterwards appearing in several family arms.
