Polsbroek former municipality

Polsbroek is a former municipality in Utrecht province, since 1 Jan 1989 part of Lopik municipality. It had just over 1.000 inhabitants, living just north of Schoonhoven (Zuid-Holland).
In the 19th century there were two municipalities - Noord-Polsbroek and Zuid-Polsbroek. The coat of arms of Noord-Polsbroek consisted of a golden field with a chequy diagonal with two tieres of gules and argent. - that coat of arms is of the IJsselsteinse branch of the van Amstel family.
The coat of arms of Zuid-Polsbroek: gules with three cushions argent, placed one and two, with in chief the letter P argent.
