Located in Minato City Tokyo and established in 2003. The embroidery ceremonial flag has white background with a blue emblem in the center and gold fringe. The university flag has white background with a blue emblem in the center. On October 1, 2003, a public contest was held for the emblem of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, which will be created by the merger of Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine and Tokyo University of Fisheries. More than 1,100 entries were received, and after careful selection, one best and three excellent works were chosen as emblems suitable for the new university, and the best work by Takeo Okada, Tokyo, was chosen as emblem of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. The university emblem represents the power of young people sailing out to sea against the backdrop of a great wave. The research and passion for the ocean is visualized with the sails of a ship and the dorsal fins of a fish, expressing the strong and sturdy spirit of a young man. The size and grandeur of the ocean is well expressed. It also looks as if two waves are having a dialogue, which also includes the meaning of two universities becoming one.
