The city emblem was adopted on Apr 11th 1974 but there is no flag law. The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana え E of Ebino. The triangle symbolizes the merger of the three towns and beautiful clouds flowing on Mt. Kirishima. The arrowhead represents an unlimited development to the future.
