Description

Local Council Hazor (or Khatzor) HaGelilit is situated in the Upper Galilee, just north of Rosh Pina, was founded in 1954 and has 10,000 inh. It is named after the Biblical city of Hazor whose remains are located 3 km north of the Local Council.
During my visit I spotted the unofficial municipal flag as green with black emblem and no inscription. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 1770, 20 October 1971.

I found three different dates about the establishment of Hazor HaGelilit (usually known as Hazor). Seems that 1952 is the correct date when the former residents of a transitional settlement situated next to nearby Rosh-Pina, entered their new homes. It is named after the biblical Hazor, now identified in the excavated Tel Hazor (Hazor Mound) north to the town.
Anyhow, it is Local Council since 1956.
I reported a black emblem on green as municipal flag, but further observation (last one two weeks ago - there was a yellow one) reveals that Hazor also use many different backgrounds, i.e. the blue emblem on white seen above the city hall at <demo.ort.org.il>.
