The flag of HOO (photo, photos) is prescribed in Article 8 of the committee's Statutes, last revised in 2916, as follows:

HOO has a symbol and a flag approved by the the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee.
The HOO symbol consists of three elements: the word "Hrvatska" (or "Croatia") above which there are the five Olympic rings, and below the word six red squares are placed in the form of a reverse trapeze.
The HOO flag is white, the ratio of its idth to length being 1:2, with the symbol of the HOO placed in the center of the flag. The central point of the symbol matches the crossing point of the flag's diagonals.
The flag, the symbol and the anthem used by the HOO in its activities, including the Olympic Games, must be approved by the Executive Committee of the IOC.

According to people involved in the design of the symbols of the Croatian Olympic Committee almost a decade ago, the logo of the COC that was initially adopted consisted of the five Olympic rings above the red squares in three rows 3, 2, 1. When this logo was submitted to the International Olympic Committee for approval, it was turned down, with the explanation that the Olympic rings should not be bigger thann one third of the logo of the national Olympic Committee.

The former symbols of HOO were prescribed in Pravilnik o zastavi i znaku Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora (Rules on flag and symbol of COC).
Article 6 defines the flag of the COC: "The flag of the COC is prescribed in the COC Graphic Standards Manual. The flag background is white with the COC symbol set in the middle. The flag format is defined by standards set for the flags. The flag colour is also prescribed in the COC Graphic Standards Manual".
Article 7 prescribes that the flag of the COC should always be used with the flag of the Republic of Croatia.
Article 8 defines the symbol of COC: "The basic graphic standard of the visual identity of the COC is the symbol of the COC as approved by the International Olympic Committee on 24 April 1992 (Letter No. 2110/92/jm9). The symbol is the unique grapic presentation of the five Olympic rings, of six red and three white squares and of the writing "Hrvatski olimpijski odbor" on a white background bordered in the shape of a shield".
Article 15 determines that these Rules become valid with the day of their acceptance, that is 10 September 1993.
The three white squares are very often made transparent, so that the symbol under the rings consists only of six red squares.

The syumbols were prescribed in Article 8 of the committee's Statutes adopted in 2006 as follows:

HOO has a symbol and a flag approved by the the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee.
The HOO symbol is made of the five Olympic rings, over six red and three white squares formed in a reverse trapeze and tthe ext "Hrvatski olimpijski odbor" and / or "Croatian Olympic Committee" on a white background, framed by a shield.
The HOO flag is white, the ratio of its idth to length being 1:2, with the symbol of the HOO placed in the center of the flag. The central point of the symbol matches the crossing point of the flag's diagonals.
