Presentation of Mouilleron-Saint-Germain

The municipality of Mouilleron-Saint-Germain (1,825 inhabitants in 2018; 2,866 ha) was established on 1 January 2016 as the merger of the former municipalities of Mouilleron-en-Pareds (1,370 inh. in 2015) and Saint-Germain-l'Aiguiller (465 inh.).
Mouilleron-en-Pareds is the place of birth of Charles-Louis Largeteau (1791-1857), a physicist who contributed to the establishment of the Greenwich Meridian; of Georges Clémenceau (1841-1929), head of the French government during World War I and signatory of the Treaty of Versailles); and of Marshal Jean de Lattre de Tassigny (1889-1952), commander of the French 1st Army during the liberation of France with the Allied forces in 1945).
