Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur

Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur was created in December 2011, as the merger of Communauté urbaine Nice Côte d'Azur and of the Communautés de communes Stations du Mercantour, La Tinée, and Vésubie-Mercantour. The municipality of La Tour joined the Métropole at its creation. In 2013, Coaraze left it, while in 2014 Bonson, Le Broc, Gattières and Gilette joined it.
Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur is composed of 49 municipalities: Aspremont, Bairols, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Belvédère, La Bollène-Vésubie, Bonson, Le Broc, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Cap-d'Ail, Carros, Castagniers, Clans, Colomars, Duranus, Èze, Falicon, Gattières, Gilette, La Gaude, Ilonse, Isola, Lantosque, Levens, Marie, Nice, Rimplas, Roquebillière, La Roquette-sur-Var, Roubion, Roure, Saint-André-de-la-Roche, Saint-Blaise, Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Saint-Jeannet, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Saint-Martin-du-Var, Saint-Martin-Vésubie, Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, La Tour, Tournefort, Tourrette-Levens, La Trinité, Utelle, Valdeblore, Venanson, Vence, and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

The "flags" of the 49 municipalities are hoisted on the sides of the Métropole's assembly hall (photo, photo, photo); the flags are white with the respective municipal coat of arms, either with or without the municipality's name, or with the respective municipal logotypes.

Communauté urbaine Nice Côte d'Azur

The Communauté urbaine Nice Côte d'Azur was created on 1 January 2009, succeeding the Communauté d'agglomération of the same name (CANCA), created on 1 January 2002. It was replaced on 31 December 2011 by Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur.
The CUNCA grouped the 27 municipalities of Nice, Aspremont, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Cap d'Ail, Carros (joined 2009), Castagniers, Coaraze, Colomars, Duranus, Èze, Falicon, La Garde, Lantosque (2009), La Roquette-sur-Var, La Trinité, Levens, Saint-André-de-la-Roche, Saint-Blaise, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Saint-Jeannet, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Saint-Martin-du-Var, Tourrette-Levens, Utelle (2009), Vence and Villefranche-sur-Mer (all together, 35,100 ha and more than 500,000 inhabitants - 350,000 in the town of Nice proper).
The Community Council was made of 105 delegates, elected by the Municipal Councils in proportion to the population of each municipality. Accordingly, Nice has 39 delegates, Cagnes-sur-Mer, 10 delegates, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, 8 delegates, Vence, 5 delegates, and the other municipalities, 1 to 3 delegates each.

The flag of the CUNCA, as seen in March 2010 in the port of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, was dark blue with the logo of the authority, made of the writing NICE / CÔTE / d'AZUR, the first letters of each word (N/C/A) in light blue and the other in white (dark blue in the original logo). "communauté urbaine" is written below, in smaller white letters (dark blue in the original logo).

Pays de Grasse

The Communauté d'agglomération du Pays de Grasse was created in January 2014 as the merger of:
- the Communauté d'agglomération Pôle Azur Provence (76,116 inh.; 8,103 ha), composed of the municipalities of Grasse (seat), Auribeau-sur-Siagne, Mouans-Sartoux, Pégomas, and La Roquette-sur-Siagne;
- the Communauté de communes des Terres de Siagne (20,101 inh.; 11,061 ha), composed of the municipalities of Cabris, Peymeinade, Le Tignet, Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne (seat), Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey, and Spéracèdes;
- the Communauté de communes des Monts d'Azur (2,139 inh.; 29,770 ha), composed of the municipalities of Amirat, Andon, Briançonnet, Caille, Collongues, Escragnolles, Gars, Le Mas, Les Mujouls, Saint-Auban (seat), Séranon, and Valderoure. Another two member municipalities, Aiglun and Sallagriffon, joined the Communauté de communes des Alpes d'Azur.

Yhe Communautés de communes du Pays des Paillons (26,649 inhabitants in 2016; 21,670 ha), created in 2003, is composed of 13 municipalities: Contes, Bendejun, Berre-les-Alpes, Blausasc, Cantaron, Châteauneuf-Villevieille, Coaraze, Drap, L'Escarène, Lucéram, Peille, Peillon, and Touët-de-l'Escarène.
