Background

The South West Ethiopia Peoples' Regional State (also known as the South West Region) is located in south-western Ethiopia.  It was previously part of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region (SNNPR).  It became Ethiopia's 11th state on 23 November 2021 after a successful referendum.  It consists of the Keffa, Sheka, Bench, Sheko, Dawro, West Omo Zones and Konta Special District.

Flag of South West Ethiopia Peoples' Regional State

The flag of the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Regional State was officially hoisted on 23 November 2021.  It consists of a green field defaced in the fly with a yellow five pointed star superimposed on five white rays.  At the hoist is a triangle of blue, white and red.
