Presentation of Valdemeca

The municipality of Valdemeca (91 inhabitants in 2015; 6,980 ha) is located 70 km north-east of Cuenca.
The painter Luis Zafrilla (b. 1956) has set up in Valdemeca, his birth village, the "Illustrated Landscape" project (website). Some 20 "paintings-sculptures" representing, in full size, different events of the every day's life, are scattered along a circular route of c. 1 km. Several models are genuine villagers.

Symbols of Valdemeca

The flag and arms of Valdemeca are prescribed by an Order issued on 16 December 2015 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 21 January 2016 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 13, p. 799 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, made of two equal vertical stripes.
A. Left part: on a background gules, a bend vert.
B. Right part: on a white field at fly, a pine vert crossed by a hook.
Coat of arms: Per pale in two parts, vertical line, A being the left part and B the right part.
A. Coat of arms of the Albornoz lineage, Or a bend vert.
B. The symbol of the pine and the hook, as attributes of the area.
Dexter canton: On a white field of purity, a raftsman's hook and a pine, green, representing the primary source of income for the place since immemorial times and the dominant tree species.
Crest: A Royal Spanish crown or, representing its belonging to the Royal domain since the 18th century [description skipped].
