Wildsteig Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per fess, above Argent an eradicated beech Gules, beneath Azure e beehive Or on top of a mount issuant Argent.
Meaning:
The canting beech is taken from the arms of the Augustine Rottenbuch Monastery, which had been ruler of the local district (Bavarian: Hofmark), until it was secularised in 1803. The beehive on a hill is taken from the personal arms of Provost Ambrosius Mösner of Rottenbuch and is an attribute of the namesake saint. Mösner was born in Prachtsried, today in Bernbeuren Municipality, and spent his youth in Wildsteig. During his rule over the monastery between 1775 and 1798 he restored the local parish church and its tower in Rococo style. The arm's basic tinctures are those of Bayern. The seal displays the arms with an additional black circumscription "Bayern" (above) and "Gemeinde Wildsteig" (beneath) in Gothic letters with additional swung dashes as separators.
