Chieming Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy Azure, a key Sable in bend under a sword Gules in bend sinister.
Meaning:
The blue base is representing the location on the eastern bank of the Chiemsee, a lake. The key is an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint. It is also alluding to the Arch Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg, which owned large estates in the village. Furthermore the local parish belonged to the Archbishopric of Salzburg. The sword is referring to the early local history, especially to the location on the Roman road betweenJuvavum (Salzburg) and Augusta Vindelicorum (Augsburg), furthermore to the land grabbing during the 6th century by Bavarian settlers led by Chiemo, name giver of the village, the lake and the shire (Chiemgau),
