Neunburg Banner

It is a red-white-blue vertical tricolour (see left image above), also according to Klemens Stadler. But there is evidence that it is often used as a blue-white-red vertical tricolour (see right image above). The coat of arms is shifted towards the top.

Neunburg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, issuant from base a circular embattled wall Argent masoned Sable with open gate with portcullis Argent, issuant from wall a tower Argent with two additional turrets all with roofs Gules.
Meaning:
The canting castle (German: Burg) with all the trimmings was already displayed on the first local seal from the second half of the 14th century. A secret seal from the 16th century replaced the embattled wall by two escutcheons, displaying the Palatine lion and the Bavarian lozenges. The current pattern appeared first on an architectural sculpture in the town hall and on all seals since 1610. Philipp Apian (1568) had been the first, who displaed the pattern on coloured paintings. The tinctures are known since 1812. The pattern changed in minor details. The top edges of the embattlements sometimes had been red.
