Hartenstein Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Or a demi wolf trap Azure; at sinister Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules.
The wolf trap is taken from the family arms of the local rulers, the Lords of Hartenstein, an offspring of the Lords of Neidstein, who renamed themselves and died out in 1366. In the Treaty of Pavia (1329) the village is mentioned as a possession of the Wittelsbach kin, represented by the Palatine lion in the sinister half.
