Mönchberg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent, issuant from base a sponton in pale with blade Azure, tassel Or and shaft Sable, at sinister Gules above a royal coronet Or and beneath a 6-spokes wheel Argent.
Meaning:
The region was populated by Franconian defensive peasants (German: Wehrbauern) on behalf of the Franconian Kings from the Carolingian dynasty. In the 10th century a base of the Archbishopric of Mainz developed. The coronet is alluding to the Carolingian kings, the wheel to the archbishopric. The sponton is also reminding on the defensive peasants, first mentioned in 1396 a standardised artefact intended for a circumscribed circle of legitimate or addressed recipients, namely the "dominion" and the peasant landed gentry/court inmates (German: Weistum). A sponton, a kind of lance, is not really a weapon but a decoration used on military reviews. The spontons even nowadays are used on parades.
