Breitenbrunn Coat of Arms

A traitor´s shield Argent, charged in base with a black inscription "ERZGEBIRGE" on a shield Argent a deciduous tree proper with its stem superimposed by hammer and mallet Sable hafted Maron, all on top of a mount Vert, superimposed by an embowed scroll Argent with black inscription "BREITENBRUNN", bordered by wooden bars Maron and scarves Or.
Meaning:
Breitenbrunn had been founded in the 13th century, located between the mounts Fichtelberg and Auersberg, a name giving well supplied the settlers with fresh water. It was first mentioned around 1380 in a list of possessions of the Burgraves of Leißnig as part of the Lordship of Schwarzenberg. It had been the village with the highest elevation up to some 950 m. The traitor´s shield probably isn´t meant as a mark of abatement as usual but a mere issue of design. The actual pattern is just the tree with hammer and mallet, as e.g. depicted on municipal seals from around 1900 and in source. Mount and tree probably are referring to the location in the Erzgebirge, the name giving mountain ridge of the county. Hammer and mallet are the symbols of mining, probably of ore, silver and tin, in the past, after 1945 especially of bismuth.

Rittersgrün Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, a knight statant clad in armour Argent and helm of the same with plumes Gules, in his dexter hand a heart Gules and three flowers of the same issuant from heart.
Meaning:
Rittersgrün was founded as a village of miners, who settled here since the 13th century. The existence of more than 60 pits is proven in the village, mainly for the depletion of tin and red ore. Since the 15th century hammer mills were established, especially for the processing of ore. The remains of a powder stack and an administration building still exist. In the 19th century mining declined and was replaced by timber industry with saw mills, paper mills and plants for the refinement of wood, furthermore by bobbin lacemaking in homework. In the 20th century a factory for the production of stockings was established. After 1990 local industry broke down completely and nowadays there just tourism survived. The knight (German: Ritter) is canting, and also the green (German: grün) background colour. The pattern appeared already on municipal seals around 1900 and changed in details a few times. There is currently no information available about heart and flowers.
