Ramsau Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield Azure, a saint statant, dressed by a tunica Gules and a dalmatic Argent fringed Or, holding axes Argent hafted Or by his hands.
Meaning:
Meaning: The saint is St. Vincent, patron of lumbermen, as forestry and agriculture had been the only important business lines in the village. The axes are different, the sinister one (Bavarian: Merschl) has a long haft and the dexter one (German: Griesbeil) a normal haft. Both are important tools of lumbermen. The arms are based on a statue of the saint in the local parish church on a Baroque altar, which probably was a gift of the woodcrafts master Andrä Graßl from 1682.
