Mönchsroth Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a fess wavy Or, above Azure an eagle Argent holding a crozier in fess by his claws, beneath Gules a saltire Argent.
Meaning:
The name of the municipality is referring to a Benedictine monastery, which had been established in the 13th century by Count Hermann of Leiningen. The monastery was acquired by the Counts of Oettingen in the 15th century and was secularised in 1558. Since then its estates were administrated by the Counts of Oettingen. The saltire is taken from the arms of the Counts of Oettingen. The eagle is taken from the arms of the Counts of Leiningen. The crozier is representing the monastery and its former estates. The fess Or is representing the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, which crosses the municipality.
