Description of the flag

Boerne has adopted a new flag: https://theboernelife.com/boerne-raises-first-ever-city-flag/

For the first time in the history of our town, the City of Boerne has its own official flag flying in front of City Hall. The flag was raised on April 21, 2025, and now flies on the right pole below the Texas flag in the yard at 447 N. Main Street — visible from Main Street.

The idea for a city flag has been in the works for several months and was formally introduced at the March 25 City Council meeting, where Director of Communications Chris Shadrock shared the background and design details.

“This is really the first one that we’ve ever had here at the City of Boerne,” Shadrock said. “We’ve been working on [the flag] over the last several months.”

The flag features the City of Boerne’s logo above a stylized pattern of flowing blue hills — a nod to the landscape and natural beauty that define our part of the Texas Hill Country. It’s simple, modern, and clean — a noticeable departure from older-style municipal flags that often relied on seals or detailed emblems.

As Shadrock explained during the presentation: “It’s a lot less of the literal imagery, and it’s much more intentional symbolism,” he said. “So… we’ve got the city logo and then we’ve got underneath it the hills. Those are representative of the hills and the flowing nature of our community… that represent the dynamic movement of our vibrant city to welcome residents and visitors alike to a place where we can all flourish.”

The flag’s addition gives the city a new visual identity — one that seeks to reflect Boerne’s unique character while aligning with modern design standards used by cities across the country. Next time you drive up North Main, make sure to look up as you pass City Hall and get a look at our first-ever City of Boerne flag as it flies in the wind!
