On 1 January 2020, the Steinkjer Municipality was merged with the Verran Municipality into the new Steinkjer Municipality. The result of this merger is the transfer of the name of the Steinkjer Municipality and the symbols of the Verran Municipality for the new Steinkjer Municipality.

Blazon: I blått en sølv båt med råseil og toppseil. In English: Azure a boat with raised square sail and topsail argent.

The boat show is the so called Veranjekt (literally a yacht from Veran), a type of boat that was being built in Veran for centuries.
