The municipality of Sede Nova (3,011 inhabitants in 2010, 11,852 ha) is
located 450 km north-west of Porto Alegre.

The flag of Sede Nova is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 52 promulgated on 13
December 1989.
Article 1.
The flag of Sede Nova, designed by Cláudio
Schuh, from Sede Nova, has for official colors light blue, white and dark green,
representing:
a) Light blue. Representing progress so aspired by Sede Nova's
people, today, covers a main space since the district has been elevated to a
municipality; representing the watercourses and small brooks so important for
the municipality, for instance the fountain that provides water to the
municipality (CORSAN).
b) White. Representing peace, emancipation without
blood shed. Seda Nova started from white (from nothing) and advances every day
to progress, as emphasized by the motto "Organizar Para Crescer" ("To Organize
in Order to Grow").
c) Dark green. Representing the hope of people in the new
municipality and of all those in search of better life conditions. Representing
the topography (climate, soil, vegetation, production, economy etc.).
In
the center of the flag's white unit shall be placed the coat of arms of the
municipality, on a white rounded background, 42 cm in width on 36 cm in length.
Article 2.
The flag features shall obey the following rules.
A. The
flag of the municipality of Sede Nova is divided into three parts:
a) The
upper unit, shaped like a scalene triangle, light blue, 95 cm in length on 55 cm
in width.
b) The central unit, white, shaped like an irregular hexagon,
charged in the center with the coat of arms, 35 cm in length on 35 cm in width.
c) The lower unit, shaped like a scalene triangle, dark green, 95 cm in length
on 55 cm in width.
Article 3.
The flag of the municipality of Sede
Nova shall be 1.30 m in length on 90 cm in width.

The coat of arms of Sede Nova is prescribed
by Municipal Law No. 44 promulgated on 19 September 1989.
Article 1.
The coat of arms, designed by Municipal Professor Salete Teresinha Schuh, from
Sede Nova, is described as follows.
1. The mural crown mandatory on coats of
arms, black and gray.
2. Scroll gules - Municipality's nickname, date of
establishment and name, in black letters on a red scroll.
3. Wheat and
soybean plants, representing the two main crops, at the origin of cooperatives,
markets and medium and smallholders, as well, the heat plant, yellow, and the
soybean plant, green.
4. A farmer representing the whole population, either
urban or rural, and all classes, poor, middle and rich, every day in search for
better conditions of life, traducing in progress message the achieved triumphs;
yellow shirt, brown shoes, black hat.
5. Representing the few rainforests
still there, dark green.
6. Crop products other than those listed in 3. as
staple food, light green outlined in black.
7. The municipality's streets
used to deliver products through the existing means of transport, brown.
8.
Small enclosures with all kinds of animals, black.
9. Representing the few
reforestation achieved and used as a material for industry; trees with brown
trunk and dark green foliage.
10. Birds that enchant and enlighten mornings,
green, yellow and brown.
11. The shield's background shall be white, in
rounded shape.
