The municipality of Campinas do Sul (5,471 inhabitants in 2017; 27,616 ha) is
located 300 km north-west of Porto Alegre.
Campinas do Sul was
established in 1939-1940 as Vila Oungre. Most colonists were of Italian origin;
their main source of income was Brazilian pine. Campinas do Sul was elevated to
the 15th district of Erechim, with the rank of "vila", by Municipal Law No. 130
promulgated on 29 November 1951. The municipality of Campinas do Sul was
established by State Law No. 3,705 promulgated on 31 January 1959, and
inaugurated on 31 May 1959.

The coat of arms of Campinas do Sul is prescribed by Municipal
Law No. 107 promulgated on 25 June 1963.
Article 1.
The symbol of the
municipality of Campinas do Sul is composed of a Portuguese shield divided into
two fields. The first field features on a blue sky the Southern Cross and a
green plowed field. The second field features on a golden yellow background a
Brazilian pine and the municipality's name written in black in a semi-circular
pattern.
Beneath the shield a red scroll inscribed "VENCERÁS TRABALHANDO"
(You Will Triumph by Working) and years "1951 and "1959".
The shield
surmounted by a mural crown argent with six fortified castles and six crenels.
