A blue flag with a Southern Cross constellation, offset toward the hoist.
The municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul (78,444 inhabitants in 2010; 7,925 sq.
km)) is located in north-western Acre, on the border with Peru, 630 km from Rio
Branco. Most of the population of the municipality, and of the Juruá region as
well, is of indigenous origin. In the beginning of the 20th century, rubber
plantations required a massive manpower input from Nordeste. Merchants of Syrian
and Lebanese origin are also common in the region. A wave of Peruvian
immigration occurred more recently.

The municipal website shows now a
flag with the representation of the Southern Cross, the namesake
of the municipality, different from reported before. The Southern Cross is
placed vertically instead of diagonally.
