The Sechelt Band was the first in Canada to be granted self-government and the authority to manage its own lands under the provision of the Indian Act.

Reserves totaling 1,031.7 hectares.
Population: 1,267 (2010)

Located on the Sechelt Peninsula (Sunshine Coast) approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver.

The Flag

The new flag dates to (at least) 2006 and features the Sechelt double-headed eagle emblem on blue. The previous flag was white with a different design of the eagle.
