Overview

Flag and Coat of Arms of Zarih (village in Poltava oblast) were designed by Stanislav Derevyanko and adopted by local council on August 8, 2003. Symbols: cyrillic letter "Z" and horn with snowball-tree branch. Ukrainian word "Rih" minds "Horn".

"The village has received name from natural boundary "Horn". It is a deep ravine with a wood which a narrow horn leaves to old Lubny way to Zolotonosha. From second half of XVI century here, having turned for a horn, settled a peasants. So the name was fixed. Especially populous sat became after ruin of Zaporizhzhya Sich. The steppe plain, rich lands and wide meadows assisted to fast growth of farm. After a construction the Mytrofanivska churches at 1855 Zarig has received the status of village. The territory of settlement entered in Lubny and Kropyvna regiments, Horodnyns'ka, Lukoms'ka and Yablunivs'ka squadrons. Any data of old symbols existence was not found.. "Znak" N31 (2003).
The gonfalone was confirmed at August, 11th, 2003 by the session of village council. The square panel is divided on a diagonal from the top free corner on two equal triangular fields, in top yellow is the red letter "Z", in bottom green is yellow horn with a branch of a viburnum with red berries"

"It was confirmed at August, 11th, 2003 by the session of village council. Shield per bend sinister, in the top or field is sign "Z", in the bottom vert field is the stylized horn with a branch of a viburnum (the stalk and leaves are or, berries are gules). The board is crowned by the or rural crown from five ears. The author is S.Derevjanko.
Or is a symbol of steppe plains riches and generosity. Vert means rich natural resources (woods and meadows). Gules reminds of a difficult history, is a symbol of a military victory and invincibility. For disclosing the name of settlement are used associative symbols - letters "Z" and the or stylized horn. A viburnum is the symbol of Ukraine, its ground and people."
