Coat of arms

Shield Argent, two branches of laurel Vert fruited Sable and a rose Gules leaved Vert, all tied Gules, the tie displays a Latin inscription Or saying: "Carpent tua poma nepotes" (= (Your) descendants gather your fruits). Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CIDADE DE LOUROSA".
The former arms just had four visible towers (town rank) and the inscription "VILA DE LOUROSA".
Meaning:
The name "Lourosa" is combining "louro" (= laurel) and "rosa" (= rose). Both are thus canting elements. The inscription is quoted to Roman poet Virgil (full name: Publius Vergilius Maro, (70 - 19 BC) from the Eclogues IX, 50). According to source, the poet wanted to say that you should think about your acts not only having consequenses to yourself but also to the following generations.
