About the flag

It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a green yellow background. Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário do Governo : I Série in 1934.01.22.

Coat of arms

The arms are argent a fountain sable playing argent between two trees leaved vert, trunked and erradicated sable and fruited or and on a chief gules an arm in plate armour and naked hand proper issuant and holding a sword bladed argent and hilted or. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE SABROSA".

Presentation of Sabrosa

Sabrosa municipality had 6835 inhabitants in 2000, and it is divided in 15 communes, covering 156,9 km². It belongs to: Vila Real District, traditional province and 1999 ref. adm. region Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, and C.C.R./NUT2 Norte.
