Presentation of Punaauia

The municipality of Punaauia (27,613 inhabitants in 2012; 7,600 ha) is located in the suburbs of Papeete. In the late 1890s, the French painter Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) lived in Punaauia, where he painted his masterpiece D'où venons-nous ? Que sommes-nous ? Où allons-nous ?.
