The following book recounts the history of “Nigoco” – an alternative name – and its many related firms: Frank Haalmeijer and Ben Scholten: ‘Van Nievelt, Goudriaan & Co’s Stoomvaart Maatschappij (Nigoco)',  De Alk, Alkmaar (NL), 1995, 208 p., ill.  ISBN 90 6013 029 4.
With house flags and funnels drawn by Martin Heere (end-titles): I will send several flags scanned from these plates, List use only please.  Opening the series is the very first house flag, preceding the one with the star shown on FOTW-ws.

As related by above authors, on a blue field appeared a lion rampant guardant, crowned, holding a globe, all in yellow.  Yellow initials V-N-G-C were placed in the corners.   Conceived in 1905, the flag was replaced by the well-known blue-and-white starred variant before even the first ship was launched.
Nigoco enthusiast’s site (many photos of ships): The great VNGC (1905-1991) is no more, but there has been a restart (in 2001 as a shipping agency and maritime service provider), and under the same flag(oid), too!
