Marum municipality
Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 10.312; area: 64,97 km². Settlements:
Marum (seat), Boerakker, De Wilp, Jonkersvaart,
Lucaswolde, Niebert, Noordwijk, Nuis.
Marum is in southwest Groningen on the border with Fryslân, a
mainly agricultural community.
The cloverleaves on the flag symbolize the agricultural character of
the municipality, while the heart-like object, a waterlilyleaf (pompeblêd)
refers to the Frisian influence.
