The city emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 2006 by Notice No 117 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue and a green city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 三 Mi of Mitoyo. Three lines symbolize a richness, the sea,the mountains and the rural site, the upper circle does a reconciliation of the citizen, the inside part does the mountains surrouding a beautiful city. It represents an image of the city which steadily develops using each personality and the capability of the people.
