of Iwate which symbolizes advanced progress. Adopted 1965-03-06.

says the background of the flag is a forest green.

The city flag was adopted on Oct 23rd 1996 by Prefecture Notice No 350. The green flag charged with white city emblem in the center. The flag proportion 2:3. The city emblem is two diamonds intersected in a right angle. The diamond was the
family crest of the former lord of Nambu Clan.

The town emblem was adopted on Apr 1st 1965 by Notice No 26 but there is no
flag law. The brown flag has a white town emblem in the center. The town emblem
is a stylized katakana シ Shi of Shizukuishi. It represents a vast hill and dale,
a concord and an effort.
