Overview

The International Union of Students is an international unification of student organizations. It was founded in Prague on 27 August, 1946. Students from 39 countries took part in this foundation feast. The present residence is Prague.

The IUS is the only general worldwide student organisation, compiled of National Union of Students or National Student Representative Organisations. The membership is drawn from a broad political base. Since the big changes in our organisation in 1992 the IUS is no longer a communist front organisation.
