Presentation of Lasinja

The municipality of Lasinja (1,938 inhabitants in 2001, 579 in the village of Lasinja) is located some 15 km north-east of Karlovac. It occupies the right bank of river Kupa (and therefore a number of villages have the attribute "right" - Desno Sredičko, Desni Štefanki..., while many other villages have the attribute "Lasinjski", "of Lasinja"). Until 1997 it was administratively part of the Sisak-Moslavina County.

The symbols of Lasinja are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu, zastavi i svečanoj zastavi općine Lasinja, adopted by the Municipality Assembly on 13 March 1998 and published on 24 July 1998 in the County official gazette Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 15. Decision Odluka o izmjenama i dopunama Odluke grbu, zastavi i svečanoj zastavi općine Lasinja, adopted on 8 June 2006 and published in the same issue of the gazette, amends the original Decision in a minor procedure detail (the flag hoisting procedure).
The symbols were approved by the Ministry of Administration on 19 May 1998.

The symbols are described in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Lasinja, adopted on 29 June 2009 and published on 8 July 2009 in the municipality official gazette Glasnik općine Lasinja, No. 18. This is repeated in the current Statutes Statut Općine Lasinja, adopted on 15 February 2013 and published on 18 February 2013 in Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 6 (text).

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is described in Article 10 of the Decision as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Lasinja is of a single colour, dark blue, with a ratio of length to width of 2:1, in accordance with legal prescriptions. In the middle of the flag at the crossing point of the diagonals is the coat of arms of the Municipality, printed on both sides.
The height of the coat of arms in the flag is 2/3 of the flag's width.

The coat of arms is described in Article 5 of the Decision as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Lasinja is in the shape of a semi-circular shield, on a blue field is a swallow in natural shape in flight, the wings half-spread, slanted to the right, and below a silver (white) wavy bar.

The arms are canting since lasinja means "a swallow" in Croatian. The wavy bar means the abundant water resources, especially river Kupa.
