Overview

Duga Resa is one of five cities in Karlovac county in Croatia. In late 1990's, possibly 1999, was adopted new coat of arms and the matching flag. The coat of arms is Vert six bars wavy Argent. The flag is rather simple, according to the strict rules imposed from the Ministry of Administration. It is green field with the coat of arms in the middle. The Coat of Arms is boreder in white, apparently. Ratio 1:2.
Six wavy bars certainly refer to big hidrographic power of the region, though weather there are indeed six rivers to which the six bars refer individually, or if it is a general representation of waters, I can't tell. However, as I witnessed myself not long ago spending a nice weeknd there, the region is indeed "boiling" of the fresh mountinous waters in early spring, surrounded with gentle green pastures.
The information was provided by a FAME visitor in January 2002.
Before the adoption of this coat of arms, Duga Resa used occasionally CoA-like emblem, but there was, as far as I am aware, no flag to accompany it.

The previously used coat of arms/emblem (see: Previous Coat of Arms) was: per fess wavy azure and vert, in chief a curl sable, and in base chequy gules and argent. The curl might be canting to go with the city name that can be translated as a "long fringe" (though the etimologic connection is not clear), but in any case, it is symbolic for the cotton industry developed in the city.
The coat of arms seems to have been used sporadic, and the status is unknown, no flag was reported to match it.

The web site of Duga Resa includes a decision on grant of use of the coat of arms to a local basketball club: Odluka o korištenju imena i grba Grada Duge Rese Košarkaškom klubu iz Duge Rese, 15.09.2005, Službeni glasnik Grada Duge Rese, br. 8/2005, 24.10.2005.
The mentioned decision quotes the previous decision that adopted the coat of arms and the flag: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Duge Rese, Službeni glasnik Grada Duge Rese, br. 2/94   This would mean that the wavy coat of arms is adopted much earlier then I have originally assumed, i.e. in 1994.
The Statutes of the city of 2001 is available at <www.dugaresa.hr>. It contains the description of the coat of arms and the flag. The coat of arms is described to be in a shield of 13 alternatively green and white wavy horizontal stripes of equal width, staring with the green stripe at the top. The flag is described to be green with overall ratio 1:2, with the coat of arms set in the middle bordered with a yellow border. The height of the coat of arms in the flag is 2/3 of the flag height.
