Introduction

The municipality of Serrada (1,165 inhabitants in 2009; 2,407 ha) is located in the center of the Valladolid Province, 30 km from the provincial capital.

Description

The flag and arms of Serrada are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 12 February 2007 by the Municipal Council, signed on 30 April 2007 by the Mayor, and published on 10 May 2007 in the official gazette of Castile and Leon, No. 90, p. 10,027. The symbols are described as follows:

Municipal flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of two equal vertical stripes, yellow at hoist and emerald green at fly, the municipal coat of arms in the middle.

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Azure an eagle sable armed and beaked or three fesses or a border checky or and azure, 2. Or three fleurs-de-lis 1 + 2 a border gules eight saltires or. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The coat of arms shown on the website of the Tierras de Medina Intermunicipal Authority does not completely match the official description:

  • the eagle is gules (red) instead of sable (black);
  • there are ten saltires instead of eight in the sinister bordure;
  • the crown is not the Royal Spanish crown.
