Presentation of Valle del Retortillo

The municipality of Valle del Retortillo (174 inhabitants in 2010; 6,275 ha) is located 30 km from Palencia. The municipality is made of the villages of Abastas (43 inh.), Abastillas (9 inh.) Añoza (29 inh.), Villalumbroso (51 inh.; capital) and Villatoquite (42 inh.).

Symbols of Valle del Retortillo

The flag and arms of Valle del Retortillo are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 4 March 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 20 March 2001 by the Mayor, and published on 9 April 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 71, p. 5,891 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular with proportions 1:1, with horizontal stripes red and green. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Of Spanish shape. Vert waves argent and azure a bordure gules five towers or port and windows azure a sun or in base. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
