Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess, above divided per pale. The upper dexter field shows in a red field a golden(=yellow), rampant lion, armed blue. The upper sinister field shows two black pallets in a silver(=white) shield. Below is a black, sinister facing, statant bear armed red in a silver(=white) field.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are derived from a seal dated 1570. The lion is representing the counts of Sayn, the pallets the county of Wittgenstein. Both together are representing the former sovereign, the counts of Sayn-Wittgenstein. The bear probably is canting.
