The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue - white - blue vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue field is a cripple without legs, dressed in a silver (=white) coat, wearing a golden (= yellow) and creeping by golden (= yellow) amputation appliances. The cripple is topped by a sinister bendy golden inescutcheon, showing a black bull's head crowned golden (= yellow) and armed silver (=white).
Meaning:
The cripple is canting. The village gained city rights in 1240 from Heinrich Borwin III, Lord of Rostock. The city became part of the Lordship Mecklenburg in 1323 and of the Duchy of Mecklenburg in 1348. This is symbolized by the inescutcheon.
