Coat of Arms

Shield quartered; 1st quarter Gules nine fleur-de-lis Argent ordered 3:3:3; 2nd quarter Or a parrot Vert, crowned Argent and armed Gules; 3rd quarter Argent a throughout cross Sable; 4th quarter Gules nine fleur-de-lis Argent ordered 3:3:2.
Meaning:
The 17 fleurs-de-lis are representing the villages belonging to the municipality. The cross is taken from the arms of Fulda Abbey, because all villages belonged to Fulda until 1802 since their foundations. The parrot is taken from the arms of the Knights of Buchenau, the only local nobility, that survived until today.
The arms were approved in 1972 by Minister of Interior of Hesse.
