About the Flag

The municipality of Planalto (13,479 inhabitants in 2019; 34,624 ha) is located on the border with Argentina, 600 km west of Curitiba.

Planalto was established in the 1950s by colonists coming from Tenente Portela, Criciumal, Tręs Passos, Horizontina and Ijuí (Rio Grande do Sul), and from Caçador, Joaçaba and São Miguel D´Oeste (Santa Caterina).
Osvaldo Hoffmann established a grain exporting company and a mill producing soybean oil; the family also operated a mill in Francisco Beltrão.
The district of Planalto was established within the municipality of Capanema by Municipal Law No. 4 promulgated on 9 April 1962, to be elevated a municipality by State Law No. 4,731 promulgated on 24 June 1963.

The flag of Planalto is horizontally divided in nine blue-white stripe, the blue stripes twice higher than the white ones, charged in the center with a white disc inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
