The municipality of Mandaguaçu (23,100 inhabitants in 2020; 29,401 ha) is located 450 km north-west of Curitiba.

The municipal flag of Mandaguaçu obeys the general rule, being quartered by a cross that highlights the people's Christian spirit. The coat of arms applied to the flag represents the municipal government, while the coat of arms and the white circle inscribing it represent the town as the seat of the municipality.
The red stripes that quarter the flag represent the spread of municipal power to all quarters of the territory. Red is a symbol of dedication, patriotic love, audacity, intrepidity, and courage.
The blue quarters thus constituted represent the rural properties existing in the municipal territory. Blue is a symbol of justice, nobleness, perseverance, loyalty, recreation, and beauty.
