Full title: El Libro del Conoscimiento de todos los Regnos e Tierras e Señoríos que son por el Mundo e de las Señales e Armas que han cada Tierra e Señorío por sí e de los Reyes e Señores que los Proveen (in English: The book of Knowledge about all the Kingdoms and Lands and Domains which are on the World and about the Signs and Arms which have each Land and Domain for itself and and about the Kings and Lords who provide for them)

At the Cervantes Institute website one may find a “reprint” (i.e. a transcribed issue) of this famous 14th century Book of knowledge [f0fXX]. The “reprint” include some original drawings from the book and some redrawings. It is composed of three PDF files (so go to the end of the first, save it to your disk, click "siguiente", save the second part, go to its end, again "siguiente" and save the final part!)

Title: Libro del Conosçimiento de todos los rregnos et tierras et señorios que son por el mundo, et las señas et armas que han
(in English: The Book of Knowledge of All Kingdoms)
Medium: book
Edition (publisher: place): (Spain)
Language: Castillian (a.k.a. Spanish)
Edition date: 1350 (1st ed.)

Remarks: Inferred, yet unknown, original manuscript of an anonymous mid-14th century apocryphal travel book, covering the then-known lands, probably the oldest flag book. Four extant manuscripts: [f0fXXn], [f0fXXr], [f0fXXs] and [f0fXXz]. Three edited transcriptions: [f0f77], [f0f12] and [f0f05]. Vexillological content commented i.a. in [nag00], [gmc17] and [mnf99].

Famous 14th century book made by a Franciscan friar that is, if I am not much mistaken, the first book that systematically shows the flags of the world and is thus a “protovexillologic” reference book of monumental value. The redrawings from it was published among others in October 1917 National Gengraphic Magazine [gmc17]…
Željko Heimer, 17 Dec 2002

It was apparently originally written by a Spanish Franciscan in the middle of the fourteenth century and first published by Marcos Jiménez de la Espada in 1877 [f0f77].
